And e make sense. That pair was made for you. You came to us with pictures in your mind, and we turned them into leather. Remember the pair that made Titi, your old crush (now your girlfriend), look twice? The same pair that helped you steal the show at Lanre’s birthday? Yes, that one.

Ever wonder how it was made?

No, e no be Cinderella story. Nobody waved a wand. Making a pair of shoes by hand is slow, careful, and full of small decisions. Most pairs take about a week, and our patina styles, like our patina wholecut Oxfords, take a bit longer.

And the steps? Plenty. So we have grouped them into three phases, to keep things simple. Come, let’s walk through am. And by the way, you’re welcome.

Phase One: You

Every pair starts with you. Not the leather. Not the last. You.

The Talk: Tell us your ideas, show us the pictures you saved, and explain what you see in your head. We listen, and we really listen. Then we sketch what we heard, again and again, until we both agree: “Yes, that is the shoe.” No clear idea yet? Bring what you have: a photo you saved, a pair you spotted at an owambe, even a rough sketch on paper. That is enough to start.
Material Selection: Together, we choose the material for the upper, whether leather, suede, or croc skin. We think about your taste and your pocket. No pressure, no wahala. Ask us anything. We would rather you ask than guess.
Foot Measurement: We take careful measurements of your foot, because they guide the last we build. Not sure of your size? Our size guide will help.

Why the Last Matters

A last is a foot-shaped form that copies your foot. Every pair is built around it, so the last decides how the shoe fits and feels. Get it right, and the shoe sits on your foot like it grew there. Get it wrong, and no amount of fine leather can save you.

Phase Two: We

Once the conversation is done, the bench takes over. This is where we get our hands busy. Some of the words may sound strange, but we will explain each one. Here is the order:

Make the last. It is shaped like your foot and can be made of wood, plastic, or even cast iron.
Draw the pattern on cardboard. We do this first so mistakes cost cardboard, not leather.
Cut the cardboard templates.
Cut the leather. The templates go onto the material you picked.
Lay the leather over the last. The sewing begins here.
Add the shank and back support. This keeps the shape strong.
Apply the sole. We stitch the welt and the leather sole together, and now it starts to look like a shoe.
Build the heel. It is made from single layers of leather, cut to shape, sanded smooth, and sealed with a hot iron.
Pull out the last.
Brand it with our logo.
Shine it with wax.
Do the final quality check. Every pair gets a last look before it leaves.

Those are the main moves. Inside each one hide many smaller steps, and that is why a single pair takes days, not hours.

Phase Three: Us

This is our favourite part. You and us, both a little nervous, both hoping for the same thing: a shoe that looks sharp and fits right. Then you slide your foot in, and it fits. Take your time. Walk around the room. Look in the mirror, just like you did that day. Nothing beats that moment. We still smile every time.

Then we package the pair and hand it over, or deliver it to you wherever you dey. And next time somebody asks where you got those shoes, you fit tell them the whole story.

Why We Do It the Slow Way

Yes, we know a faster way exists. We still choose the slow way, because your pair must survive owambe dance floors, Lagos traffic, and the Monday-to-Friday hustle. Making shoes by hand takes time, but it means every pair is checked by the hands that made it, and every detail gets a second look before it leaves the workshop.
